That's right, folks, Will, Everett and I had the AMAZING, WONDERFUL, FANTASTIC, AWESOME opportunity to take a little trip to Nicaragua - "the land of lakes and volcanoes". It was a dream trip and we are so thankful to Will's Aunt Wanda for inviting us to tag along. Everett had to get a passport for his first trip outside the United States (and he's only 9 months old!), and let us just say, it is darling. We left on Monday, the 14th, flew into Managua (the capital) and flew back home on Friday, the 18th. A whirlwind adventure, to be sure, but oh-so-cool and exciting.
We made our way down south with the purpose of Will providing Wanda with Spanish interpreting. Wanda and her husband, Larry, own a beautiful beach house on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua. And since Wanda no habla espanol, she asked Will for help. Everett and I simply went along for the fun. By the way, Wanda and Larry are looking to sell the beach house, so if you know of anyone who might be interested in owning a fabulous piece of beach property in a beautiful country, send them our way (Did you like that plug Wanda?)!
So without further aideu, here's a photographic play-by-play of our week of fun and sun. We can't thank Wanda enough for her kindness and want to tell her again how much fun we had! Please let us know if you need our ("our" used very loosely) help again. And for anyone else out there who has need of a translator and you're willing to fly us somewhere cool - we're available!

Our flight from Houston to Managua - he finally fell asleep and in his newly purchased NASA onesie, no less. (Note to self: Always pack TWO extra outfits in the diaper bag, not just one)

"To the beach house we go..."

"To the beach house we go..."

"High-ho the merry-oh, to the beach house we go!"

The front of their beach house

The a-maz-ing view from out the back "doors"

I love the coconut trees that line the pathway to the beach. And if you look closely, you'll notice the ocean in the distance.

The housekeeper, Juana. She's using a machete to cut us a coconut or two. Did you know that's what coconuts looked like when they're fresh? I sure didn't!

Yum, yum, coconut juice

One of the neighboring homes. Something like they're turning it into a small hotel and restuarant?

The neighbors' relaxation area. Cool thatch roof and hammocks, no? And not to mention the view!

Mom and Everett - our very own relaxation area. I'm sure Wanda's neighbors would be SO jealous of this hook up!

Thin flank steak covered in chopped onions, tomatoes and green pepper served with a fried plantain and mozzarella cheese.

Enjoying said meal.

Everett did very well in the umbrella stroller. As long as he was fed, he was pretty much fine.

Everett lounging in our market spoils. Cool bracelets, huh?

Wanda barreling full steam ahead up the side of the volcano. To truly paint a picture, we had the radio blasting some 70's rock song and the road wasn't exactly what I'd call smooth.

Looking down into the middle of the volcano. It's active, but hasn't erupted in something like 10 or 20 years. It does, however, emit that wonderful sulfuric steam though.

One of the guides who told us some more info. Check out the cross in the background. The Catholic Spaniards made their way to this site, where they promptly put up the cross, baptized the volcano, and then named it "The Mouth of Hell".

Nothing says love like a photo of you and your sweetheart with sulfuric steam rising up around you.

Our family of three.

The view from our volcano to the mountain in the distance.

Everett and his great-aunt Wanda, with whom he had a great time riding in the front seat. I know, I'm a horrible mother, but it was easier to have him in our laps than to fuss with a third-world car seat.

Overlooking the thatch roof of one of the restaurants at the water's edge. Restaurant is a very relative term, as you will see below.

Ta-da! The restaurant.

We were a bit sketchy, but how can you go wrong with a bottled Coke? Hey, it was either that or a Fanta naranja.

One of the 9,678,345 stray dogs in Nicaragua.

But all good things must come to an end. Here we are surviving the first of two flights home. Everett gobbled up the baby goldfish like a champ.

Man, I sure am jealous of Everett (and you and Will). We are tied for international trips and I have quite a few years on him. It looks like your family had a blast on the trip. Thanks once again for my amazing bracelet that Everett seemed to enjoy as well.
everett and i are also tied on international trips. does canada count as international?
looks like the trip was muy funo. glad to see you back online!!!
Whew! What a whirlwind - where do I begin my comments? First off, did Will have to do any work at all? jk It looks like an amazing trip! The view was beautiful. Were you able to swim in the ocean at all?
I love Everett's new NASA outfit. That made me laugh...we have a not so cute 'outfit' that was purchased at SLC airport from an accident Olivia had almost two years back (And the pants still don't fit her properly). Now Aaron reminds me every time we fly to do just that - pack TWO outfits.
Everett's thighs in the picture of you eating the coconut kill me! I still can't believe he can stand and he has teeth! Kids grow up too fast!
3 hammocks huh? I'm sure if you hung it outside, it would fit in at the complex! Aaron bought me one almost five years ago and we have yet to use it:)
I do love the picture of Everett with his wings too - WHAT A HANDSOME DUDE!
ps Since you are available, iss Cincinnati a cool enough place for you to visit? We have the Ohio river! haha
What an absolutely fun trip! I am, as everybody before has said, definitely jealous. I'm jealous of that food. It looks SO GOOD! I think I'm most jealous of those beautiful views. Absolutely gorgeous!
Everett looked adorable and very well adjusted to such extensive, international travel. I guess after your trip to Texas the flights felt like a piece of cake!
you went for coke over fanta naranja?! you crazy, girl! j/k. kinda. looks like y'all had fun. i'm just impressed that you still had fun even though you were traveling with a 9 month old. everett must be the best behaved baby ever!
Wow! What an incredible trip to take. And to bring Everett along on too! I'm jealous - it looks beautiful.
Oh wow, am out of the LOOP Big Time! I apologize bigtime for not leaving any comments that last couple of weeks-i was home in MT for a solid week, then we started school Again-ugh last week, and life for us never slows down w/ a house of projects and school, work, and life. So anyways:
Cute sunglasses on Everett, he's such a ladies man for sure :)
And the Taylors!!!! Awesome visit. How very fun for you all. I'm so glad you got to see them. That is so cool. I can't believe how their family is growing-Kylie is getting so big and grown up, not the little baby we remember. She's a cutie too and so is Hunter! Wow! We sure miss all of our old GA friends. I don't know if we'll ever have the fun times and silly times we all did as newlyweds, that was so great! :]
And what the heck!!!! You ALL went International?!!?!??! That is soo awesome. I am soo soo happy for you and your family. What an experience to have, that is just fabulous. Sometimes the last minute trips are the best. (let's relate:my mom and sisterjust went to Hawaii something unheard of in our household but badly wanted!)It must be in the air :]
The photos are awesome, I love them all. It does look like such a gorgeous place, wow! I love the views and resting areas! The food does look good too. I love all of your family photos too, you all look so cute and so happy. That volcano is amazing too, wow. And Everett is quite the world traveler. I'm so glad he was so good and you all survived. That even extra great that you had an excellent tour guide and an even more wonderful inturpterer (sp? i can't spell worth beans, sorry)What a memory to have. Its awesome! Keep having all of that fun and welcome back to depressing reality. :]
I'm just so excited for you all, thanks for sharing! If I get it together I do have photos to share too!
