Play Time at Lake Weiss

The Kilgore clan was invited to Lake Weiss in Alabama this weekend by my Uncle Stoogie (real name Giles) and Aunt Kathi. They have a camper up there and tempted us to make the two hour drive by having a barbeque as well. We took Everett so he could spend a little family time with the extended folks.

Thankfully, my parents brought a little contraption that let Everett be a part of the party without having to sit on either dirt or concrete. Hooray for Grandma Julia's quick thinking! Here's a few lovely shots of Everett playing to his heart's content.

He's as happy as a lark!

Note the bear in the background. His "Auntie" Amy Cashman gave him that and Amy, I just have to tell you, there's no other toy he would rather drool on that that Old Navy Bear. You are such a wonderful aunt!

Showing that duck who's boss.

My weak attempt at abstract photography.

I was trying to get a shot of both Everett and his (2nd? 1st cousin once removed? I'm not sure...) cousin Thomas. As the two little ones there, they were both showered with loads of attention and kisses.

Everett has really gotten the hang of how to manuever that pacifier. Check out his thigh chub!

Decorating and Doctor's Visits

If any of you have seen Everett's room, you've probably been aghast that there's absolutely NOTHING on his walls. (Well, I suppose there are a couple of things - thanks to Will). Months and months of looking at white walls finally got to me last week and I decided to embrace my inner crafty-mommy-type.

I ventured into Hobby Lobby and became absolutely inspired. Back when I was pregnant (you know, oh so long ago) and once Will and I had decided on the name Everett, I began looking into those cute hanging letters with ribbons. Unfortunately, they were like $10 a letter and I wasn't looking to spend $70 just to spell out our son's name. Fast forward to last week when I decided to simply create my own. It was a GREAT little project for me and Will helped quite a bit. I was so excited to get them on the wall. I give you Everett's name:

And for a closeup look:

I also had a bunch of stuff from my pregnancy that I wanted to save, but wasn't quite sure what to do with since I'm really not a scapbooker. Hobby Lobby's shadow boxes were 1/2 off, so I bought one and now another wall of Everett's room is decorated.

And another closeup:

And there you have it! My creative juices flowed and there are now decorations on Everett's walls. sigh Alright, I'm tuckered out. Expect more creativity in three to six months.
MOVING ON...
Today was Everett's sixth month well-baby checkup. He weighed in at a whopping 19.3 pounds and measured 28 inches long. Both are in the 80th percentile, so he's progressing just fine. On a side note, our pediatrician is from Puerto Rico and loves soccer, so he and Will are hoping Everett turns into a great futbol player. Anyway, I actually remembered to bust out the camera, so here are some priceless pics of our little cutie.

The before.
Note Everett's hat bill. How did that happen? Good thing he seems oblivious to the fact that his mom has dressed him like a dork.

His perfect, untouched, and yes, chubby, thighs.

Reveling in his nakedness and the fun paper.
Unfortunately for Everett, all good things must come to an end.
The nurse entered and inflicted the damage.

This picture doesn't do justice to the distress and grief those shots caused him.

We're Back!

Again, we apologize for taking the last week and 1/2 off of updating! Wow, so much happens around here in only a week. Of course, we couldn't come back to our blog with one measly entry, so for your viewing pleasure, there's THREE. YAHOO!!!!! Enjoy... :-)

Who's Your Daddy?

There seems to be some debate as to whether Everett looks more like his mommy or his daddy. I post these pictures as proof that there is absolutely no doubt that Everett is his father's son and that man, oh man, does he look like Will!

(My personal fave. What is up with those eyebrows?)

Everett is a trooper, but even he can only put up with my picture-taking antics for so long. It's true folks - I lost to a cable cord.

The Big 0-9!

Everett's Aunt Autumn turned nine last week. Autumn and her family came to visit with us and Everett was more than happy to help celebrate. Here is the lovely duo. Happy Birthday Autumn!! We love you!!

P.S. - Maybe it's just me, but doesn't Everett look like he knows something we don't?

Taking the Next Step

Since Everett has conquered the rice cereal cuisine, and since Mom gave the go-ahead, Dad was SUPER excited to introduce something new to Everett's culinary palette. One order of green beans coming right up!

He's one smart cookie - he knows something's up

Behold, your green beans!

Despite what this face looks like, he really did enjoy them.

And so he kept right on eating...

A few days later, unbeknownst to Mom, Dad let Everett have a go at feeding himself. Everett decided to buck tradition and treat rice cereal and green beans as finger foods. I give you Everett's first go at feeding himself:

For those who can't quite see what a mess he is, here's a close-up:

Pretty gross stuff, huh? I especially like the way the food glistens underneath Everett's left eye. Truly a culinary masterpiece. Thanks Dad!

¡Oh Mexico!

As most of you know, Everett is a quarter Mexican. Don't be fooled by those baby blues and golden locks! Underneath that pale pale skin is a brown-skinned amigo just waiting to bust out the holas, como estas. So naturally, with today being Cinco de Mayo, Everett had to celebrate in a way fitting of his Mexican heritage.

First came the food.
Everett chose to eat breakfast with NO shirt on. Apparently he wanted to show off those guns.

Once he was sufficently full (Can there be any doubt? Check out that pudge.), it was on to getting decked out in the appropriate regalia.

That's right folks!
Everett is the proud owner of his very own Mexican National Team soccer jersey.

Very festive, ¿sí?

Among Everett's other Cinco de Mayo celebrations included chillin' on the floor with Dad,

sporting a red bib to complete the Mexican flag colors,

and of course, visiting with his Mexican grandmother. ¿What is a Cinco de Mayo celebration without a real Mexican?

¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
